A graphite-and-brass direction that reads like a licensed engineering firm rather than a consumer app. Squared corners, hairline rules, engraved-plate typography, and surveying’s own vocabulary — bearings, benchmarks, legal descriptions, field books — treated as first-class interface elements.

Why this reads as professional

Restraint over decoration

One accent color — surveyor’s brass — used only where attention is earned: the active nav item, the primary action, the job number. Everything else is tonal graphite.

The industry’s own language

Bearings, state-plane coordinates, township/range legal descriptions, and benchmark IDs are rendered in monospace like a record of survey — data that looks like it belongs on a plat.

Letterhead typography

An old-style serif for headings evokes a firm’s stamp and certificate block; a quiet system sans carries UI copy; monospace carries anything measured or numbered.
